چکیده

This paper studies an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled wireless sensor network, in which one UAV flies the sky to collect data transmitted from a set of ground nodes (GNs) via distributed beamforming. We consider two scenarios with delay-tolerant and delay-sensitive applications, GNs send common/shared messages adaptive- fixed-rate transmissions, respectively. For scenarios, we aim maximize average data-rate throughput minimize transmission outage probability, respectively, by jointly optimizing UAV’s trajectory design GNs’ transmit power allocation over time, subject flight speed constraints individual constraints. However, formulated problems are both non-convex thus generally difficult be optimally solved. To tackle this issue, first relaxed ideal case ignored, for well-structured optimal solutions obtained reveal fundamental performance upper bounds. It is shown that approximate problems, have same multi-location-hovering structure, but different strategies. Next, general considered, propose efficient algorithms obtain high-quality using techniques convex optimization approximation. Finally, numerical results show our proposed designs significantly outperform other benchmark schemes, terms achieved probability under scenarios. also observed when mission period becomes sufficiently long, approach bounds ignored.

Energy-Efficient Data Collection in UAV Enabled Wireless Sensor Network

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), utilizing the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a mobile data collector for the ground sensor nodes (SNs) is an energy-efficient technique to prolong the network lifetime. Specifically, since the UAV can sequentially move close to each of the SNs when collecting data from them and thus reduce the link distance for saving the SNs’ transmission energy. In this l...

Ambient Data Collection with Wireless Sensor Networks

One of the most important applications for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is Data Collection, where sensing data are collected at sensor nodes and forwarded to a central base station for further processing. Since using battery powers and wireless communications, sensor nodes can be very small and easily attached at specified locations without disturbing surrounding environments. This makes WSN...

Distributed and Cooperative Compressive Sensing Recovery Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks with Bi-directional Incremental Topology

Recently, the problem of compressive sensing (CS) has attracted lots of attention in the area of signal processing. So, much of the research in this field is being carried out in this issue. One of the applications where CS could be used is wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The structure of WSNs consists of many low power wireless sensors. This requires that any improved algorithm for this appli...

Distributed clustering approach for UAV integrated wireless sensor networks

Wireless Sensor Networks consist of battery-limited sensor nodes which have the ability of sensing the environment, communicating with other nodes and processing the data. Large number of sensor node deployment over a geographical area imposes some constraints on the retrieval of the data. The use of mobile sinks (e.g., Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, UAV) is an effective solution method for such larg...

Distributed Activity Recognition with Fuzzy-Enabled Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor nodes can act as distributed detectors for recognizing activities online, with the final goal of assisting the users in their working environment. We propose an activity recognition architecture based on fuzzy logic, through which multiple nodes collaborate to produce a reliable recognition result from unreliable sensor data. As an extension to the regular fuzzy inference, we in...
